Music Lessons & Our Tutors
Our music programme offers a wide range of instruments and tuition, including piano, guitar, ukulele, bass, drums, fiddle, harp, flute and tin whistle. Our teachers are practising and professionally committed musicians who bring their own experience and passion into their teaching. Every lesson is personalised around the student’s interests, ability and individual goals, rather than following a rigid one-size-fits-all approach. While we support students who wish to pursue formal examinations, exams are never mandatory. Our combination of personalised tuition, group activities and community-focused facilities creates a unique environment where students of all ages and abilities can learn, develop and thrive.

What we offer
Recitals, group performances..
We host recitals twice per year, one for Spring and one for Winter. Recitals are held in local venues such as Knockranny House Hotel, Westport Town Hall Theatre and most recently the Linenhall in Castlebar. We find recitals so beneficial for our students confidence and performance skills.
Students get to play solo, in duets or even form a band! They get such a wonderful experience from these events, not only on show day but in the practice rooms weeks before. Being able to play live in front of others is the biggest skill you can give a musician.

EXAMS
Our school is hosted as a centre for RIAM exams three times per year. We find this a great advantage for the candidates who attend WAMS because they feel more comfortable with what they know, they are playing in a familiar place, the same piano and their teacher nearby. Nerves are always going to be there but this certainly has helped our students dramatically.
As well as RIAM, students are always being prepared for SCT exams too and we are looking into having our school as a centre for these also. Exams are never mandatory for our students.
